So Close!

So close and happy with what I have done. This last few weeks have had allot of personal struggles however I have pushed through and I am really happy with what I have produced. About to submit what I have finished and I do hope that I do well 🙂

I have learnt allot of new things in module two but one aspect that I really enjoyed was researching how ICT can enhance learning! There is allot of resources out there and I think this is fantastic that there is so much supporting evidence.

As I was googling some supporting fellow blogger information I found it very interesting that I managed to find a fellow blogger from last year that blogged about a website they found out on prac to support learning and incorporating ICT –  –  however the interesting part is that I included this website into my unit plan with no idea that she had blogged about this! Small world hey!!



Reflecting on Module Two

As we get further into this unit I have found myself being less stressed and am able to move around the course with more ease. When I first started I was overwhelmed and confused with all the different programs and aspects of this subject. I still have not got the hand of Diigo and I guess I am set in my ways with finding information however I actively use both this blog and freedly and find them a fantastic tool!

This module has hit during both personal and work life struggles so I have found it hard to complete the tasks each week however I have finalised working through the module and am on the finishing touches of my assessment piece that I will hand in later today.

I have started to come to the realisation that it is okay to struggle but it is the way you deal with the struggle and continue to reach and meet your goals is the important learning part.

To finalise this assessment piece I ended up choosing year 3 english as a little challenge. Hopefully it pays off and I receive a decent mark 🙂

Summative and Formative Assessment

I thought this would be a good time to do some more research on ways to broaden my understanding of these two forms of assessment

Summative Assessment

Summative assessment (or summative evaluation) refers to theassessment of participants where the focus is on the outcome of a program. This contrasts with formative assessment, which summarizes the participants’ development at a particular time.

Formative Assessment –

Formative assessment, including diagnostic testing, is a range of formal and informal assessment procedures conducted by teachers during the learning process in order to modify teaching and learning activities to improve student attainment.

Khan Academy

I just wanted to write a quick blog to outline a resource I have been using recently to help build my skills as a teacher. Last prac I was placed into a year 5 classroom and I tell you what it was hard. I struggled at school and this has pushed my motivation to assist students not struggle as much as I did. I have challenges at uni however I have nearly finished and am so proud of myself already.However when I was placed back in this classroom I had no idea what they were being taught! SCARY! how can a teacher not know what they are teaching. So back to the books I went to revisit symmetry, shapes (2D and 3D) and all things maths. When doing module two I found this resource and think it is fantastic – both for students to teach them and also for people wanting to broaden their understanding of topics!!

Observations – Monitor and record via anecdotal record throughout the unit students progression of

Consultation – consult with students about locating, organising, recording information from sourced they have found. Discuss with students their progress with drafts and editing of these drafts of their presentation

Monitor students understanding – open ended questioning, peer reviews, student work including presentation, responses throughout lessons


Who’s’ View?: Students will take part in one assessment task that will form part of their literacy and literature marks for the term. They will demonstrate how to appropriate use ICT in the classroom to locate a story of which they will be required to deconstruct. These students will identify the point of view of the authors and suggest one alternative point of view. They will also be able to articulate their understanding of the way characters, events and setting are portrayed in different ways and support their speculations. This will be presented in a PowerPoint display of which they will hand in to the teacher for marking.

An activity from week 8


At uni last week, I was sitting in my Literacies class where we were presented with one thesis statement per group. We were to express our points of view whether we agreed or disagreed and why or why not. My group’s topic was: The focus of ICT should be on the pedagogy, not the technology. Do you agree or disagree? I agreed. This was also consensus amongst our group. 

My Answer :

hmmm… interesting. I sit on the fence with this – I believe that ICT should be based both of technology an pedagogy. Pedagogy can be is assisted by technology however technology should not stand online in my opinion when coming to teaching.

When I googled this to find research to support this I came across this picture which I though was quite amusing considering how my thought process has changed in regards to blogging since taking part in this subject!

An interesting quote from the USQ material. I found this very thought provoking. As well as David’s discussion about his sons progress in maths with money and how he relates the differences of his upbringing with money versus his sons current upbringing. I couldn’t agree more. I am a person that does not carry cash. I loose it. yes I know how stupid but I would honestly loose my head if it wasn’t screwed on. So cash to me is useless. I get frustrated with businesses who do not own EFTPOS machines. But after David’s discussion about money and the benefit it has fore children to see and take part in this I realized that cash might be not so silly. I then did some further research and found this article which I found interesting to read
